Maintenance of lead-acid batteries
In these batteries the acid mixture (electrolyte) is liquid. Acid batteries vent through the openings provided for this purpose. Some types require maintenance by topping up with distilled water at regular intervals. In the product descriptions you will find information whether the battery is maintenance-free.
Maintenance-free: With maintenance-free batteries, it is not possible to top up with distilled water.
Low maintenance: For low-maintenance batteries, the acid level must be checked regularly.
Sealed: Through the AGM or gel technology the electrolyte is bound in the battery and therefore leak-proof.
Vented: The electrolyte is free or fluid in the battery.
The right battery type for your application
Stationary: Stationary batteries have several thin lead plates installed to achieve a higher surface area. As these plates are very close to each other, short circuits can be caused by regular loading and unloading (cyclic application).
Deep Cycle: Batteries are considered to be cycle resistant if thicker lead plates make them suitable for use with many charging and discharging processes. Cycle resistant batteries can withstand a high number of charges and discharges.
