VARTA Batteries

VARTA automotive batteries are powered by the global market leader, Clarios (formerly named Johnson Controls Power Solutions). It’s one of the world’s oldest lead acid battery manufacturers and continues to be one of the biggest manufacturers today.

History of VARTA

The VARTA brand has a long history going back more than 130 years to the 1880s. Adolf Müller launched the company in 1887 under the original name, Büsche & Müller in Hagen in Germany. This would be the start of a long future for VARTA.

Just three years later, AEG and Siemens decided to invest in Büsche & Müller and renamed the company Accumulatorenfabrik AG (or AFA for short). AFA went on to power the first vehicle bought and driven by Thomas Edison, the Baker “Runabout.”

VARTA later famously supplied the Luftwaffe with batteries and submarines during World War II. After several ownerships and name changes over the years, VARTA finally became adopted under the Clarios name to become what it is today.

VARTA Batteries

VARTA car batteries come in a range of different types, including automotive, heavy commercial batteries, powersport batteries, and leisure batteries. Many customers choose a VARTA car battery for their long life, stability and cost-effectiveness.

The automotive batteries are split into several different groups. There’s the Silver Dynamic and Silver Dynamic AGM. The latter is suitable for vehicles with a start-stop engine, whereas the former is typically for conventional vehicles. There’s also a Silver Dynamic Auxiliary battery, which is a dual battery system for backup applications.

In the next group, there’s the Blue Dynamic and Blue Dynamic EFB which are for conventional vehicles with medium power needs and for start-stop systems respectively. Finally, there’s the Black Dynamic which is ideal for cars built before the year 2000.

VARTA’s heavy commercial batteries power the increasingly extensive electronic components in truck cabins. On the powersport side, VARTA batteries are also capable of powering motorcycles, quad bikes, jet skis, scooters, and more.

VARTA Leisure Batteries

As well as automotive, sport, and commercial vehicles, a VARTA leisure battery can also support a range of leisure vehicles as well as cars. VARTA currently supplies batteries for electric boats, yachts, and motorboats. You can also buy VARTA batteries for caravans and motorhomes or even golf carts.

For vehicles that need a more robust option, a VARTA AGM battery is a perfect choice. These are long lasting options that many people choose for their prized vehicles. Although a VARTA AGM battery can cost slightly more than a standard VARTA car battery, you’ll be purchasing one that will keep your vehicle running for years to come.

VARTA Battery Chargers

While there are no specific branded VARTA battery chargers for your car, you can use a range of different branded chargers. Some top brands that supply battery chargers for your car include CTEK, NOCO, and Victron Energy. VARTA does supply battery chargers for general day-to-day use to charge your AA rechargeable batteries and more.
