When the driver moves away, the battery must provide sufficient current to restart the engine, potentially repeating this process many times during a single journey. Type 249 Fitment
The Bosch S4E42 uses the Type 249 battery format, measuring approximately 306 × 173 × 225mm. This is a taller case design than many common European DIN-style automotive batteries, so the S4E42 should not be selected solely by capacity or starting performance. Always check the dimensions, terminal arrangement, mounting system and available installation space against the original battery before ordering.
Important Replacement Information
When replacing a battery in a Start/Stop vehicle, it is important to use the correct battery technology. If the vehicle manufacturer specifies an EFB battery, the replacement should be an equivalent EFB battery or an appropriate AGM upgrade where permitted. A conventional flooded starter battery should not be used to replace an EFB battery because it is not designed to withstand the same level of repeated cycling.
Likewise, if the vehicle was originally equipped with an AGM battery, it should not normally be downgraded to EFB. Some modern vehicles may also require the replacement battery to be registered or coded to the vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS) following installation.
